6 remain standing as last two #1's go down!
Dancin' in the streets in SoCal after SDSU's victory
In one of the funnest tournaments in years, the excitement continued Friday night. #5 SDSU, #6 Creighton, #5 Miami, and #2 Texas all punched their tickets to the Elite Eight. After tonight's action 18 more Ganzans are heading home, leaving just 6 holding out hope for this year's top prize.
The 18 losers are:
Girls S, Andrew C, David G, Frank G, Corey W, Flo W, Tracy W, Rose F (Finally!), Ryder G, Daskull, Darrell C, Michael F, Paul P, Pappy, Susana C, LA Frank, Eric S, and Jeff F.
When asked about her sudden demise and elimination, 99-year old Flo W had this to say, "This is just utter BS. I don't have many of these things left, but I guess I've gotta hang on for at least one more year. Damnit. I was really hoping to go out on top, and I'm getting tired. Fucking Ganza." When this reporter told her she was a winner in our book, all the same, Flo W snapped back, "Don't patronize me, you little shit. I swear to god I'll knock into tomorrow!" ...Oy.
The Golden 6 are:
Jack S - Goose - Frances - Trevor G - Dawn F - Dave B
SDSU dancin' on the court after it knocked off #1 Alabama
For only the fourth time since 1979 there will be a Final Four without a #1 seed. And as it turns out, a few of the final 6 control their own destiny. If SDSU and UConn win, young Jack S will be crowned Ganza champ for the second time in his pre-teen life. If Creighton and Miami win, it'll be Dave B for the second time in 3 years. And if SDSU, Kansas St, and Gonzaga all win, we'll have Trevor G joining the pantheon of 3-time Extravaganza champions. Frances (Goose's dog and first time entrant), 2009 champ Goose, and Dawn F (whose cat Daskull won in 2017) all have less direct routes to victory.
Good luck to all, and enjoy the weekend!!
