Ganza Champion Sex Scandal Brewing!!

This is Caroline W. She is Ganza champion Corey W's wife. Despite the family being broke, she is already in Rome spending Corey W's winnings. When reached by phone about her irresponsible behavior, she responded "What me worry? I work hard at my half time job, and I deserve 3-4 months vacation per year. Forget that american 2 weeks per year thing. I'm european. I've got rights!"

When winner Corey W discovered his wife was gone with the "money" he reportedly went on a bender, getting stopped late this evening by Florida police after running into a tree with his SUV at the end of his driveway... with an unnamed woman in his vehicle. Since then, Ganza headquarters has been flooded with information and photos of women coming out of the woodwork claiming to have had recent affairs with the now famous three time ganza champion. See photos below.

San Francisco - Michael Franti concert after party January 2012

Las Vegas - New Year's Eve 2011 (Say, isn't that Shelby W's wife!?!)

The Extravaganza Organizing Committee has released an official statement saying it is embarrassed and considering revoking the 2012 champion's first place finish. Unnamed inside sources told this reporter that unfortunately, since Corey W is on the committee, they don't have the votes to enact the motion. When reached for comment, Ganza Co-Chair Michael S said, "Needless to say, the whole Ganza community is in shock. No further comment until we get to the bottom of this." We will continue posting news and photos as they comes in.

And We Have a Winner!

With Kansas' victory over North Carolina, Corey W. became the first 3-time winner of the Extravaganza and he did it in impressive fashion. Corey picked all 4 teams and only one of them was a #1 seed.

When reached for comment Corey gloated, "I can't believe it took me 17 years to get my third title. I deserved this long before now. My competitors are basically a bunch of clowns."

Um, well, congratulations Corey and stay classy.

Great Drama in the Ganza!

The day began with 6 people still in the running for the Extravaganza crown. Trevor G. had a chance to end it early and take home his 3rd title. But Florida let him down by blowing an 11 point lead in the last few minutes.

No one shed a tear.

Then it was on to the Syracuse/Ohio State game. Ohio State won, knocking out Michael S. and Tim S. The brothers did not take their defeat with grace or class. Unfortunately, their reactions can not be printed in a family publication.

Which leaves us with 3 competitors still standing. Corey W. can win his 3rd Crown and 1st since 1995 if Kansas defeats North Carolina on Sunday. If UNC wins then previous winner Phil P. will be in a playoff with long-time participant L.A. Frank G.

LA Frank G. has been a great Friend of the 'Ganza. He's been a loyal and dedicated participant and the world would be a righteous place if he was rewarded for his efforts.

Good luck to all.

Major Carnage Hits Ganza! Field Narrowed to 8!

This is what was left of this years Extravaganza field after a a major shake up in the West bracket thursday night. With 4th seeded Louisville knocking out #1 Michigan State and #7 Florida sending #3 Marquette home early, 28 contestants saw their hopes and dreams in this year's Ganza go up in smoke. Just so everyone is clear, the fact that Louisville is worth 3 points, and there are contestants that picked both Louisville/Syracuse and Louisville/Ohio St, a minimum of 3.5 points would be needed to not be eliminated. If Florida beats Louisville Saturday (and Xavier loses either of it's next two games), Trevor G. will be a three time Extravaganza champion. The eight survivors after thursday's games are Ellen D, Trevor G, Michael S, Tim S, Phillip P, L.A. Frank G, Flo W, and Corey W.

Below is Josh G. after he found out he was eliminated despite having three teams left. The Extravaganza Organizing Committee would like to wish this young man, and all the rest who got knocked out so far, better luck next year.

2 out! 8 more on the rocks.

This is Anabelle and Lucy. They are stunned and disgusted. They just heard they and their aunt Tracy W. (a finalist in last year's festivities) were the only two entrants completely eliminated from the 2012 Extravaganza after the first weekend. When asked for comment, Anabelle, one of the youngest entrants in this year's ganza, replied "This is bullshit. First my dad forced us to take Duke, who I hate. Then our other three teams just crapped out on us. Lame!" Meanwhile her sister Lucy ran to the other corner of the playground balling her eyes out. A passerby claimed to hear her muttering something about revenge for being forced to spend all the money in her piggy bank to enter this stupid final four pool.

In other news, six contestants have all four of their teams left while eight others have only two or three number 1 seeds left. None of the eight were mathematically eliminated due to all the unclaimed lower seeded teams making it to the Sweet Sixteen, making for a very exciting next round.

Dead Man Walking!

On a day of upsets that hurt many Extravaganza participants no one was hurt more than Shelby W. Within about 20 minutes time both Michigan and Memphis departed the tournament and took Shelby's chances of winning with them. (One of these men at left is Shelby. I'll leave it for you to decide which.)

Sure, it's still mathematically possible for Shelby to make it to the Final Four in a tie with 35 other people, but that's not going to happen. Shelby W. is done. Toast. Kaput. He's the proverbial Dead Man Walking and as such, he was unavailable for comment.

In other news, Missouri became the first major upset of the tournament which had a negative impact on 17 Ganzans. All told 22 participants have lost at least one team. In addition to Shelby W. the people with two teams out are: former 2-time Champion Andrew C., Angus the Dog who is famous for his Butler Blunder of last year, Mo and Lucas, Tracy W and her nieces Lucy and Annabelle and Frank G and his grandchildren Ryder and Rowan.

Good luck to everyone and remember, it ain't over 'til it's over. Well, except for Shelby W. He's finished.

The 23rd Annual Final Four Extravaganza Welcomes Back Our Prodigal Son!

Hello Everyone and welcome to the 23rd Annual Final Four Extravaganza! This year we have something for which we are especially grateful. 2001 Extravaganza Champion, The Prune, left our happy family last year to seek fame and fortune out there in the real world.

But alas all he managed to do was start a Community Radio Station in Boise, Idaho and therefore was in need of the warmth, comfort and possible cash of his home here at The Ganza. He was welcomed back with open arms after finding his way home with this trusty map.

On to business. This year's Extravaganza has 38 participants and the winner will receive $1,900. Please get your checks in right away. As usual leave the payee blank.

Good luck to all.

Somber Mood Envelops Extravaganza

For the first time this decade the NCAA Tournament will proceed without the Washington Huskies who choked away their chances in impressive fashion.

Tony Wroten (right) missed 4 free throws in the last few seconds to cost his team a 4th straight trip to the tourney. Instead the Huskies are the #1 seed in the NIT. woo. hoo.

It's been suggested that we expand our horizons and put together a contest for the NIT bracket.

This will not happen.

Anyway, you've got until Wednesday at 10pm PDT to get your picks in. Same rules as always. If you are unclear or need a refresher, give a shout.

Good luck!
